Police recovered five firearms with ammunition

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested one suspect for different crimes in Johannesburg and recovered four vehicles and five unlicensed firearms with ammunition from August 12 to 15.

The suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and attempted murder.

Among the vehicles recovered are a white Iveco bus, a white Toyota Fortuner and a white Honda Jazz that were hijacked from the owner and a white Hyundai that was recovered stolen.

Five firearms including an R5 rifle, Dashprod rifle, 9mm Norinco and two 9mm Beretta pistols with ammunition were recovered and booked at SAP 13.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer Raymond Sambo said investigation continues in all cases and that working together with the community led to these recoveries.
