Michelle Pelser, the organiser of the initiative, said: “We also wanted to get the seniors out of their homes to associate with other people and prepare them for what is happening in their area in terms of crime.

Pam Lyons.

“We also wanted to make sure they are protected because they are the ones who are hit hard because they are vulnerable. Among the topics discussed, we also spoke about well-being and the pros and cons of having a will,” said Pelser.

Silvano Rebula and Alec Lau.

“The breakfast was a success. I hope the elderly learned something from it. Thank you to everyone who took part, as well as the sponsors and guest speakers. Joy Boswell, my partner, also helped.”

During the breakfast, Sergeant Elizabeth Mnguni of Mondeor SAPS said when contacted by beggars or strangers, seniors should be extremely vigilant. “Sometimes when beggars or strangers ask for help, they end up doing inappropriate things to the senior, especially if they observe you stay alone.”
