Local rising star prepares well ahead of big fight

Boxer Donjuan van Heerden, ‘Don’, has 12 siblings and out of that at least five of them were fighters. He is now walking in their footprints.

Boxing champ Donjuan van Heerden, who hails from a family of exceptional boxers, is gaining popularity and admiration in and outside the ring for his triumphs.

The 21-year-old professional boxer from Walkerville is looking forward to his next bout against Congolese fighter Giresse Wingui, to take place on November 17 in KwaZulu-Natal.

Scheduled as a six-round bout in the middleweight division, the non-title fight will see the fierce boxer getting his foot in the boxing ratings.

Ahead of his big fight, Donjuan said he has prepared for the fight and has spent weeks in ‘hard camp’.

“I was supposed to fight another boxer for his rating but it was eventually arranged that I fight Giresse. Should I win this bout, I’ll get a rating. I’m ready and fully prepared for this fight, after long hours of preparation and spending time in the mountains,” he said.

He also thanked his manager Colleen McAusland for her support, as well as his sponsors.

“Special thanks go to Mk8 Diamond Security, Anarchy Monster Bullies, Ynot Connect, Potunos Infamous Hotsauce, Intveld twins, Waynol, Hashtagfix, CGR and GST. I’m grateful for their continued support,” said Donjuan.
