Suspect busted with stack of copper in Alrode

Alberton SAPS have commended Fox Security after copper cables were seized in Alrode following an arrest on November 30.

A suspect was detained by Fox Security after being caught red-handed with a stack of copper cables at Potgieter Street in Alrode in the early hours of November 30.

A case of possession of suspected stolen property has been opened at the Alberton Police Station amid his arrest.

The suspect has since been taken into custody and will soon appear at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court for his alleged charges.

After attending an alarm complaint, Vernon Renison of Fox Security made the successful bust at about 04:00 in the morning.

“I passed the suspect by Potgieter Street in Alrode and saw that he was pulling a heavy trolley which had a big sack. I stopped him and asked what was in the bag, he said he had his blankets in it. The moment I wanted to check the bag, he ran off and left the trolley. I eventually got hold of him and arrested him,” he explained.

Captain Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS commended Fox Security for a job well done.

“We are pleased that the security company nabbed the suspect, and we commend all other security companies in the community for their continuous hard work. They are all doing diligent work in preventing crime in the area. On behalf of our station commander, we extend our appreciation,” he said.
