Raceview Motors bowlers win Alberton Bowling Club’s Renee Venter Business League
Playing under the team name Raceview Motors, the players were announced as the winners of The Renee Venter Business League.
The Alberton Bowling Club Business League saw Raceview Motors’ bowling team become bowling champs on the evening of March 1.
The Business League, played over four weeks, consists of companies in Alberton and the surrounding areas. It was established in 2010 by the late Reneé Venter, a life member of the club.
She had a vision of inviting businesses to participate in a fun game of bowls while, at the same time, creating team building.
Reneé passed away in 2020. The Alberton Bowling Club decided to honour her and renamed the league to the Reneé Venter Business League.
Ann Matthysen of the club said, “It has been a popular tournament among the various businesses in Alberton and surrounding suburbs since its inception. And bearing this in mind, a tournament of this nature cannot take place unless we receive sponsorship from various avenues.”
Secretary Maria de Sousa said this is a sport on the rise and that the club was starting to see more youngsters join.
