Truck overturns leaving one dead, one seriously injured in Alberton

Emergency services arrived on the scene to find two men trapped inside the truck’s cab.

One man died, and another was left critically injured when a driver lost control of his truck, causing it to overturn on the R59 Reading Interchange in Alberton on Sunday morning.

ER24 and other services arrived on the scene at 07:55 to find the truck on its side in a drainage ditch. They saw two men trapped inside the truck’s cab.

Medics assessed the patients and found the driver had already succumbed to his multiple injuries while the passenger was in critical condition.

Medics extricated the critically injured man, treated him and provided him with advanced life support before he was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
