La Rochelle community receives food parcels

The Alpha and Omega Church, with Ward Clr Michael Crichton and Ward Committee member Xoliswa Anna Mfaxa, handed out food parcels to help feed a community in need.

Alpha and Omega Parish South Africa, in collaboration with Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton and ward committee member Xoliswa Anna Mfaxa, gave 60 food parcels to and cooked meals for the residents of La Rochelle on April 22.

According to Crichton, they have teamed up with NPOs, NGOs and church-based organisations to assist with feeding vulnerable communities since the devastating impact of Covid-19.

Some of the food parcels were handed to the residents of La Rochelle.

“While we have come a long way since the height of the pandemic, communities are still feeling the economic pinch. With load-shedding continuing unabated, businesses cut down on the number of people they employ due to the rising costs of running alternative power sources and, in some cases, closed down altogether.

“We thank the Alpha and Omega Church for always being willing to lend a helping hand to these vulnerable communities,” said Crichton.
