Giyana and Loki shine at the Gauteng Provincial Dog Competition

A great feat for instructor inspector Peter September and his canine partners.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Acting Chief of Police, Angie Mokasi, congratulated JMPD K9 instructor inspector Peter September, who together with his dogs Giyana and Loki, recently participated in the Gauteng Provincial Dog Competition.

September won accolades with Giyana, his service dog, who turns eight next month and is the national champion in substance detection, and Loki, the younger dog.

September and his dogs received these awards:

• Explosive substance detection: two gold.

• Narcotics substance detection: one gold, one bronze.

• Abalone substance detection: one gold, one silver.

• Micro substance detection: one gold, one silver.

• Control search: one gold.

• Scent discrimination: one gold.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said, “Acting Chief Mokasi thanked Inspector September for his valuable contribution to the organisation and his determination to achieve beyond the call of duty.”
