Mrs World 2023, Mrs South Africa, and Mrs Soweto joined forces for a cultural journey in Joburg South, leaving an enduring impact on both participants and the communities they visited on November 14.

Joburg South witnessed a momentous occasion as three influential women, Mrs World 2023, Mrs South Africa and Mrs Soweto came together for a cultural exploration that left a lasting impact on the participants and the communities they visited on November 14.

Tandi Potgieter, the director of Mrs Soweto, said Mrs World 2023 Sagram Koushal from India was in South Africa to judge the Mrs South Africa pageant who were her hosts.

“The Mrs South Africa team, comprising Mrs South Africa Palesa Matjekane (in her final week of reign), Jo Judnick-Wilson (Mrs South Africa 2022), Candice Abrahams (Mrs World 2016), CEO and former Mrs South Africa Joani Johnson, along with Mrs Soweto Mel Tlhapi and CEO/director of Mrs Soweto Tshegofatso Mathe and I, commenced with our tour at the acclaimed Thaba Eco Hotel nestled in the picturesque Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve in Joburg South.

“The journey kicked off with an exhilarating Eco-drive in the Thaba Eco Park, leaving Mrs World enchanted by the sight.

“Continuing our expedition, we visited the Apartheid Museum, where the poignant history resonated deeply with Mrs World, evoking visible emotions among all the ladies.

“The journey continued as we boarded the city sightseeing bus from Gold Reef City to thoroughly explore Soweto. This segment of the tour offered a profound and immersive experience, allowing them to delve deep into the heart of Soweto’s abundant history and heritage.”

Potgieter said that the Mrs World Tour, in collaboration with Citysightseeing SA, encapsulated a pivotal visit to the Hector Pieterson Memorial, a poignant stop that allowed them to pay homage to the memory of the 1976 Soweto Uprisings.

“After lunch at Sakhumzi Restaurant in Vilakazi Street, we went to the Soweto Towers for a thrilling tour to the top of the towers.
