Meyersdal house robbery turns fatal as robbers assault couple

The suspects ransacked the house and took household items to the value of R200 000.

Meyersdal community is shaken by an armed robbery at a house that claimed the life of a man on Friday.

According to Sergeant Lindi Moloi, the spokesperson for Brackendowns SAPS, three armed suspects forcibly entered a residence.

“The perpetrators gained access to the house through a window. Once inside, they confronted a couple and demanded firearms from the victims, believing the couple owned such weapons. The couple informed the intruders that they did not have any firearms,” Moloi said.

Moloi said the suspects assaulted the couple. Due to the trauma, the boyfriend was declared dead on the scene.

The suspects ransacked the house and took household items to the value of R200 000 and a vehicle that was later recovered in Primrose.
