Luzipho gets 8 years behind bars

Luzipho pleaded guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Matshitse sentenced Samkelo Luzipho (31) to eight years imprisonment at Booysens Magistrate’s Court on July 1.

He was found guilty of tampering, damaging/destroying essential infrastructure and colluding and assisting another person to do so.

This happened on January 25, near Robertsham when Luzipho unlawfully and intentionally tampered with, damaged or destroyed essential infrastructure while he knew it was essential infrastructure from a City Power substation, by cutting the copper cables.

In terms of section 103 Act 60 of 2000, the court declared Luzipho unfit to possess a firearm.
