Barbershop owner dies weeks after South Hills shooting
Shanodene Williams died at the scene, while Vernon Arends, owner of Perfection Barbers, succumbed to his injuries nearly a month later; suspects remain at large.
A double shooting occurred at the Fever Tree Complex in South Hills on March 27.
Shanodene Beandre Williams (21) was pronounced dead at the scene, while Vernon Arends (28) was rushed to the Baragwanath Hospital for medical attention.
The police responded to a complaint of a shooting and arrived at the scene to find Williams lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
Arends underwent surgery at the Baragwanath Hospital and remained in critical condition until he died on April 22.

Arends owned Perfection Barbers, a barbershop he established in 2017. He started his business on his own and grew it to the point of success.
The motives behind the murder are still unknown, and the gunmen remain at large.
Moffat View SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Shunny Govender outlined the ongoing investigation.
“Although community members have not yet come forward with any information, it is alleged that individuals approached Vernon to sell drugs out of his barbershop, and he refused. These reports are unconfirmed. The search for the suspects is ongoing, and we will find them,” said Govender.
The police appealed for information that could lead to the perpetrators’ arrest and urged the community to come forward with details that could solve this case.
