Mondeor pool hall murder: Case remains set for trial while defense prepares

The accused in the pool hall murder case in Mondeor remains out on bail.

A 19-year-old is facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing another teenager (18) at Ballbreakers, a pool hall in Mondeor on April 5, 2025.

The accused appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on February 24.

The new defence council in the case consisted of a new defence attorney, Mr Mahwasame, and an advisor from the previous defence council, Paul Leicher, who had previously withdrawn.

The defence was not in order, and a new trial was proposed.

Magistrate Vele advised that, should the case file be in order in terms of evidence and witnesses, the case can proceed to trial.

After many delays, the defence managed to maintain the same case details and witnesses.

Magistrate Vele then advised that another pre-trial conference be held to ensure the integrity of the case.

He then postponed the case to March 25 for a fourth pretrial conference.

The accused remains out on bail.
