K9 Unit crackdown leads to arrest in armed robbery case
Officers on patrol in the Johannesburg CBD tracked down a wanted vehicle, leading to the arrest of a suspect.
The JMPD commends the diligent work of the K9 Unit (VB-Shift) following the successful interception of a vehicle linked to serious violent crimes and the subsequent arrest of a foreign national suspect.
On April 10, at approximately 15:30, members of the K9 Unit were conducting routine patrols within the Johannesburg CBD when they received a high-priority complaint regarding a white Toyota Corolla.
The vehicle was flagged as sought in connection with a Moffatview SAPS case involving robbery with a firearm and other serious offences.
Officers initiated a search and successfully located the vehicle on Leyds Street, occupied by a single male occupant.

Upon being questioned, the driver could not provide a satisfactory explanation for his possession of the vehicle or its link to the reported crimes.
The male suspect was arrested and detained at Moffatview SAPS. The white Toyota Corolla, used in the commission of a crime, was seized and booked in at the SAPS Aeroton vehicle pound for further forensic investigation.
The suspect faces charges of possession of a motor vehicle used in the commission of a crime.
