Precious Ngwenya is a living proof that attitude determines altitude

Precious Ngwenya's attitude towards life and everything she does is positive and she does not allow circumstances to limit her.

Precious Ngwenya is a single mother of three who could have lamented her situation of being unemployed and having to care for her children.

However, Gail Johnson, founder of local organisation Nkosi’s Haven took her in. She volunteered for a long time at Nkosi’s Haven before Calvary offered her a position as a cleaner and aftercare assistant.

In 2019 the Joburg south resident obtained her first-aid certificate. In 2020 she obtained a volunteer certificate with Open Schools World Wide.

Precious remained in aftercare at Calvary Christian College, as her love, care and kindness for the children are evident. She was promoted in 2021 to assist during the morning in the office doing photocopying and assisting in the library and the reception area.

Her attitude once again earmarked her for better things and in 2022 she began studying to be an Early Childhood Development practitioner. By the end of the year, she was awarded her certificate.

She now works in the ECD centre and is embarking on her second year of studying.

Her attitude towards life and everything she does is positive and she does not allow circumstances to limit her.

Fenella Potgieter, the principal of Calvary Christian College, said Precious is a dedicated and hard-working teacher.

“Her love for the children and her passion for education is an asset to our school,” said Potgieter.
