Trinityhouse Glenvista’s Ridwaan Khan emerges as top achiever with 8 distinctions

Khan’s outstanding academic performance has made his school proud and set a high standard for future matrics.

Trinityhouse Glenvista’s Ridwaan Ebrahim Khan attained a remarkable achievement, securing eight distinctions in the school’s first matric class and emerging as the top achiever in the 2023 final exams.

Khan’s achievements in accounting 82%, Afrikaans first additional language 91%, business studies 92%, economics 97%, English home language 82%, life orientation 94%, mathematics 96% and physical sciences 84% are proof of his determination, focus and hard work.

Academic brilliance

Khan said, “It was not easy, but I had to push. This came about by going through past exam papers as much as possible. So, in short, for everyone asking what the key to success is, I say past exam papers are one of them.”

Stressing the importance of time management and consistency from the start of the academic year, Khan said success results from balance – maintaining physical fitness and engaging in activities that bring joy. His commitment to mental health underscores his holistic approach towards his studies.

Reflecting on his nerves before receiving the results, Khan explained: “I was hoping to be the overall achiever of the grade, but at the end of preliminary exams, I was sitting at six distinctions. However, my preparations for the final exams proved satisfactory, resulting in the well-deserved additional distinctions.”

Future plans

Driven by his passion for mathematics and business, Khan has set his sights on studying actuarial science at the University of Cape Town. He believes it will be a perfect fit for his academic aspirations.

Acknowledging the crucial role played by his support system, Khan expressed gratitude for the constant motivation from his family, teachers, and friends.

Excellence celebrated

The school’s executive head, Linda Linda, expressed joy and pride, stating, “I am proud of Khan. He made us proud and did extremely well, ranking in the top 1% in economics and life orientation.”

Reflecting on the occasion’s significance, Linda said, “As this was our first matric class since Trinityhouse Glenvista’s inception in January 2020, I must say it took hard work and preparation. I am very thankful for our academic staff, parents, and learners for setting the bar high.”

Linda congratulated the class of 2023, recognising their success as a monument to academic prowess, character, resilience, and instilled values.
