DA national spokesperson, Solly Malatsi confirmed that MPL Joburg South Manny de Freitas has been fired from the party.

He said De Freitas’s membership was terminated after pleading guilty to violating the DA’s Federal Finance Policy.

“Termination of membership is the highest possible sanction for any violation of the DA constitution, regulations, and policies,” noted Malatsi.

According to Manny de Freitas, he missed the deadline to close the constituency account.

“All funds raised were used for Party purposes and I did not personally benefit from any funds raised. It was my responsibility to ensure that the account was closed by the deadline which was an oversight on my side,” he said.

De Freitas said he has taken responsibility for this and respects the FLC decision.

“I remain committed to the Party, its values, principles, and objectives, added De Freitas.
