Bassonia resident Denagran Reddy wins global educator award
Denagran Reddy from Bassonia was honoured with the prestigious emerging educator of the year award for his outstanding academic contributions.
Denagran Reddy of Bassonia recently received the emerging educator of the year award on a global scale.
This honour, bestowed on him for his outstanding academic contributions, demonstrates his commitment to shaping the future through education.
Reddy will receive the award in New Delhi, India, between February 22 and 23 and will be present to give some talks.
Inspiration and journey to education
Reddy’s journey into education began after completing his MBA and a distinguished business school invited him to be a guest lecturer.
“What started as a personal passion project quickly evolved into a profoundly gratifying experience, leading me to pursue a career in academia full-time.
“My effectiveness as an educator garnered recognition from various institutions, ultimately solidifying my position as a key lecturer within the academic community,” said Reddy.
He said his professional journey started as a dedicated endeavour to enhance the educational experience for students by delivering substantive content.
“Because of my effectiveness and the students’ positive reception, I garnered recognition from the business schools I served, ultimately being appointed within the institutes as a key lecturer. Balancing multiple responsibilities, I strategically transitioned to prioritising lecturing as a primary focus in my professional pursuits.
“The award and acknowledgement is validation that my efforts are aligned with positive outcomes. Making a difference in individuals’ lives is a significant achievement, and the realisation that I can positively impact someone is genuinely humbling. The ability to influence others meaningfully is a testament to the impact an individual can have,” said Reddy.
Significance of winning the award
Winning the award holds deep significance for Reddy because it validates his dedication to academia and his positive influence on students and institutions.
“This acknowledgement not only celebrates my past accomplishments but also unlocks doors to future opportunities for enriching students’ educational journey.
“I am humbled to represent my profession on a global scale and consider it a duty to my personal and professional circles, as well as to my home country, South Africa.
“I firmly believe in the transformative potential of education and see this recognition as a chance to contribute to shaping the future of education locally and globally,” said Reddy.

In his speech at the ceremony in New Delhi, Reddy will focus on the theme of Education for All, emphasising SA’s resilience and triumphs and education’s critical role in driving success.
“Looking ahead, my goals include conducting substantial research and delivering impactful outcomes within academia with a focus on addressing real-world problems and facilitating actionable solutions to create a better future for all,” said Reddy.
Challenges and advice for aspiring educators
Throughout his career, Reddy has faced various challenges, including limited access to education and personal time constraints. However, he has overcome these obstacles with resilience and determination, driven by a genuine passion for education.
“My advice to aspiring educators is to enter the field with a genuine desire to effect positive change and a commitment to other people’s success while embracing innovation and creativity to keep education dynamic and engaging.”
Reddy added that he incorporates innovation and creativity into his teaching methods by staying up-to-date on global advancements and implementing best practices to keep education relevant and engaging.
“I foster a creative and collaborative environment, encouraging students to take on real-world challenges and contribute to meaningful projects with the potential to have a significant impact,” said Reddy.
