Forum joins hands with residents for a cleaner Meredale

Everybody did their part to clean the area in Meredale.

Last month, the Meredale West Community Forum, residents and Ward 125 Clr Matsobane Sekhu came together to clean their area, especially Albert Street.

Lorraine Martin from the forum thanks those who assisted with the clean-up on Albert Street, Meredale, and the Meredale Community Park.

“We accomplished a big part of the clean-up in the time we set out. Collectively, through team effort and the love of our community, we cleaned up about 70% of the Albert Street area.

“Unfortunately, due to very thick vegetation, we collectively decided to cut as much as possible and return to burn the remaining vegetation to cut maintenance costs and ensure the grass areas are shortened as much as possible.

“A special thanks goes to Clr Matsobane for attending and assisting with the community initiative. Fidelity ADT for the water, assisting with the clean-up, ensuring safety and clearing areas before community members initiated cleaning. Elliots Lawnmower Hire for hiring the required equipment and providing someone to assist in completing our clean-up. The gentlemen who made their bakkies and trailers available to dump the grass.

“We will arrange another clean-up in the next month or two, where we will tackle other areas in our neighbourhood. Teamwork makes the dream work. Thank you, Meredale West Community Forum,” she said.
