Forest Hill murder case heads for judgement
The murder case was postponed to June 7.
Magistrate Habib will deliver her judgement on the Forest Hill murder case on June 7.
She revealed this at Booysens Magistrate’s Court on May 3. Supplementary heads of arguments were still pending, and defence attorney Munyai delivered them on the day.
Habib said the court had waited for heads of arguments since last October. She said Kleave van Staden was appearing for the eighth time (on May 3) since October 2023.
Habib chronologically stated all the excuses made by the defence not to furnish the court with the heads of arguments since October, including sickness, not having water to bathe and being unable to print the heads of arguments.
Munyai delivered her supplementary heads of arguments, and prosecutor Bikwa said he would not respond because he had presented his case and was satisfied with it.
At the end, Munyai told the court she wished her client would be acquitted because it was self-defence.
Van Staden is accused of murdering his wife, Jamillah, on January 8, 2022, in Forest Hill.
