Help foundation raise awareness about gender-based violence

Your contribution can make a difference in the fight against gender-based violence.

As the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence approaches, Disele May seeks donations to fund advocacy, support services, and educational outreach programmes.

Each year the Disele May Foundation (DMF) strives to partner with relevant players with a specific gender-based violence and femicide focus. The foundation believes that your participation in this event would add to its global relevance.

The 16 Days of Activism is an annual international campaign that kicks off on November 25 for the elimination of violence against women and runs until December 10.

DMF advocates for 365 days of activism for no violence against women and children.

Every year, the UNITE Campaign highlights a particular theme, and this year’s focus is ‘UNITE! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls.’

The campaign encourages individuals to demonstrate their commitment to ending violence against women and girls by sharing the steps they are taking to build a world free from such violence. It also urges governments around the globe to outline their investments in preventing gender-based violence.

Founder of DMF, Disele Mokgatlhe May expressed: “DMF will be partnering with the City of Joburg Social Development and also bringing different stakeholders on board. We therefore request any kind of support from the community and/or any organisation relevant to our programmes to help us reach our goals successfully.”

The first event the foundation is set to host is a youth hike and dialogue, with an estimated of 100 participants, which will take place on Saturday, November 30 at Kliprivier Nature Reserve and Jackson Park from 07:00 to 13:00.
The second event will be a community picnic and dialogue which is set to take place Thursday, December 5 at Santarama Miniland in Rosettenville from 09:00 to 15:00.

The funds needed for both events amount to R88 800 which includes refreshments, marketing materials and entertainment.

Donate today and bring light into the darkness

Youth development is a passion of the Disele May Foundation. Your donation will also create hope for the youth through programmes such as skills development and entrepreneurship.

All donations to the foundation are tax-deductible with a Section 18A certificate issued and you can request an invoice for your donation.

Become a partner

“There is power in partnership. There is a certain strength we gain from working in partnerships that we can never achieve if we work alone. Partnerships are important to us, we strongly believe in joining hands with individuals and entities who share our purpose of unlocking tomorrow’s potential through education and skills development,” highlighted May.

DMF collaborates, co-creates programmes and builds relationships with key stakeholders who share their vision for a brighter future for the youth.
