Rand Water maintenance to disrupt supply at South Hills Tower for over 6 weeks

Residents in South Hills and surrounding areas are warned of low pressure and outages during daily 10-hour work periods.

Residents in South Hills and surrounding areas are reminded that Rand Water will begin major maintenance tomorrow, June 3.

The work will continue until July 21 and is expected to impact water supply in several areas linked to the Palmiet system.

The maintenance will be carried out in phases, starting with the Palmiet system from 6:00 to 16:00 daily. During this time, pumping capacity will be reduced to 67%, which means residents can expect low water pressure or no water at all for up to 10 hours each day.

Areas affected by this maintenance include South Hills, Tulisa Park Ext. 2, Ext. 3, Ext. 4, Ext. 5, Ext. 6, and Ext. 7, Steeledale Ext. 1, Linmeyer Ext. 1, Linmeyer, Steeledale, Tulisa Park, The Hill Ext. 5, South Hills Ext. 1, Oakdene, Rosettenville Ext., and Klipriviersberg Estate S.H.

Johannesburg Water advises residents that it may take five to 14 days after maintenance ends for water supply to return to normal. Arrangements have been made to provide alternative water supplies in affected areas.

Updates will be shared regularly through ward councillor groups and other communication channels.

Residents are urged to prepare accordingly and stay informed during this maintenance period.
