Residents urged to stock up on water ahead of 50-hour maintenance
Councillor to monitor progress and keep residents informed.
Rand Water is set to undertake a 50-hour maintenance project at the Zwartkoppies Pumping Station, starting at 05:00 on June 30 and ending at 05:00 on July 2.
The maintenance will affect the water supply to the Forest Hill Reservoir, impacting many areas including South Hills, Moffat View, Linmeyer and others.
Clr Michael Crichton is proactively requesting water tanks to help mitigate the impact on residents. However, he noted that previous experiences have shown that the rollout of water tankers can be challenging. As a result, he urges affected residents to stock up on water in advance of the planned work.
“As a ward councillor, I am committed to ensuring that residents are well-informed and prepared for this maintenance,” said Crichton.

“I will be in regular contact with Joburg Water to monitor progress and keep residents updated on any developments. I advise residents to prepare for potential delays and disruptions beyond the scheduled timeframe.”
Residents are advised to plan ahead and take all necessary precautions to ensure access to water during the maintenance period.
The system may take a few days to stabilise once the maintenance is complete, and residents are encouraged to remain patient and understanding during the recovery phase.
Crichton also encourages residents to stay informed and report any concerns or issues to the appropriate authorities.
