Community unites for Door of Hope Fun Walk
A heartwarming day at the Rietvlei Zoo Farm saw families come together in support of children in need.
Over 40 families and 80 participants gathered at the Rietvlei Zoo Farm for a fun-filled walk in support of the Door of Hope Children’s Mission.
The event celebrated Women’s Month and showed solidarity with the 64 babies in the organisation’s care.
Donor engagement manager Kathy Groome shared, “Thanks to the kindness of local businesses, the day was made even more special.”
The Italian Cheese Shop donated a food hamper, and Jesus and Lemons provided a stationery hamper, both of which were raffled to raise essential funds.
“Bené generously kept everyone refreshed with bottled water,” Groome added.
Many participants also brought donations listed on the organisation’s monthly needs list, which will help with the daily care of the children.

“The event wasn’t just about fundraising; it was also about bringing people together,” said Groome.
“Long-time supporters reconnected, and new friendships were formed.”
After the walk, families gathered under the trees to relax and watch the raffle draw.
“With the warm weather, the generous spirit of the participants, and the vital funds raised, the Fun Walk was a true celebration of hope and community,” Groome said.
