Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve to celebrate Arbor Day
Stakeholders come together to create a greener community.
The Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve and Association (KNRA) is teaming up with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) to celebrate Arbor Day on September 13.
The event, themed Greening our Community, will feature tree planting, education and awareness activities, as well as exhibitions from various organisations.
The event will host 60 learners from Molalatladi Primary School and Sekwati Primary School, who will participate in tree planting, education and awareness activities. The community is invited to join in and promote the importance of tree planting and conservation.
KNRA’s Role
The Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve Association (KNRA) is a volunteer, non-profit organisation that supports the protection, conservation and promotion of the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve.
The KNRA will be participating in the Arbor Day celebration by providing support for the tree planting and conservation activities.

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo’s Role
Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) will be hosting the Arbor Day celebration, with Tumi Shoba, conservation specialist, leading the event.
The JCPZ will showcase exhibitions on the importance of trees and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
They will also provide hands-on experiments through their Science on the Move programme.
Other organisations participating in the event include:
• KaiNav Conservation Foundation: Conducts anti-snare patrols and education programmes to prevent wildlife poaching.
• Thaba Eco Hotel: A luxury hotel that promotes sustainability and conservation.
• iSkill Training Academy: A non-profit organisation that provides transformative learning opportunities.
• AWQAF SA: A charitable trust focusing on education, healthcare and environmental issues.
• Rand Water: Will promote water conservation and education through their Water Wise brand.
• Spiritual Chords: A non-profit organisation focusing on sustainable development, skills training and community empowerment.
• SANParks Junior Honorary Rangers: A programme that promotes conservation and leadership skills in young people.
• Mastermind Academy: A tutoring centre that promotes arts and crafts using recyclable materials.
