Regents Park Primary School shines in Phendulani Literacy Quiz

Regents Park Primary makes history with top achievement.

Regents Park Primary School made its mark in the Phendulani Literacy Quiz, securing second place among primary schools from 15 districts.

The quiz took place during September and October, with various primary schools in Johannesburg hosting stages of the competition. Regents Park hosted the district stage of the quiz.

Representing Johannesburg South, the school showcased exceptional literary skills, with learners demonstrating impressive comprehension and critical thinking abilities.

The competition, aimed at promoting literacy in under-resourced South African primary schools, featured top-performing schools from various districts.

The 2025 Phendulani Literacy Competition concluded with various schools winning at different levels.

Khandubuhle, from the Johannesburg North district, took first place, while Rynsoord Primary from Ekurhuleni North secured third position.

Principal Karl Schofield expressed pride and gratitude, acknowledging the achievement as a milestone for the school.

“I want to thank Mr Ndlovu, the quiz team, and everyone involved. As a school, we are hoping to build on this success in future competitions,” said Schofield.
