Woman dies following bakkie crash on Kliprivier Drive amid wet road conditions
A male occupant suffers severe injuries as emergency services respond to a serious bakkie accident near the Rifle Range off-ramp.
A woman tragically died following a serious motor vehicle accident involving a Toyota bakkie on Kliprivier Drive, just before the Rifle Range off-ramp, yesterday afternoon.
According to ER24 JHB South branch manager Faheem Essop, wet road conditions caused by heavy rainfall earlier in the day are believed to have contributed to the incident.
Johannesburg South-based paramedics were the first to arrive and immediately requested additional support due to the severity of the incident. Emergency teams from Secure Fire Operations also responded to assist with the rescue.

Upon arrival, both occupants, a male and a female, were found trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue personnel used the Jaws of Life to free them from the wreckage. Once extricated, the patients received advanced medical treatment on scene.

The female occupant sustained critical injuries and later passed away at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. In contrast, the male occupant suffered severe injuries, was treated on scene, and was transported there for further care.
Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Motorists travelling along Kliprivier Drive experienced delays during rescue and cleanup operations.

Emergency services urge all road users to exercise extreme caution when driving in wet and slippery conditions, as adverse weather can significantly increase the risk of serious crashes.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic incident,” said Faheem Essop.
“We also thank all responding services from MTR Towing and the first responders for their swift assistance under challenging conditions.”
