Mondeor Sector 1 welcomes new police manager

Constable Nawaal Kamaar begins her new role with strong support from local leaders.

Residents and businesses of Glenvista, Bassonia, Mulbarton, Liefde-en-Vrede, Aspen Hills, and Glenanda South have welcomed Constable Nawaal Kamaar as the new SAPS sector manager for Mondeor Sector 1.

Kamaar takes over from Sergeant White and will now be responsible for understanding the full profile of the sector.

This includes its population, businesses, schools, places of worship, liquor outlets, and the difference between urban and agricultural areas. By studying these factors, she will be able to identify the crime challenges in the area and work with the community to create effective crime-fighting plans.

Kamaar graduated from the SAPS College in 2019 and came to Mondeor from Sophiatown SAPS, where she worked in visible policing.

She is a mother of three, including twin daughters, and said she is excited about her new role.

She shared a message with the community: “Thank you for welcoming me to your community as your manager for Mondeor Sector 1. Hopefully, we will work together to fight crime and build a good relationship between the community and the SAPS.”

Mike Fontes, the chairperson of the Mondeor SAPS area CPF and the Mondeor Sector 1 Crime Forum, welcomed her.

He said, “It is her first post as a sector manager, and she will need our full support. Our community embraces the SAPS and expects a high standard of policing in return. I am confident that she will work tirelessly to uphold the strong traditions and high standards of our sector.”

Kamaar will be the main point of contact for residents and businesses regarding policing projects. Her contact number is 071 675 0777.

The community is invited to meet her at the final Community Policing and Mondeor SAPS meeting of the year on November 27 at 18:30 at Baseline Church, 25 Pieter Acroyd Avenue, Bassonia.

Attendees can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, receive a year-end crime overview, and greet Kamaar.
