SASSA announces May 2026 SRD grant payment schedule and new WhatsApp service
Beneficiaries are urged to check their payment status as SASSA introduces a WhatsApp line to improve access to grant information and reduce the need for office visits.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payment dates for May 2026.
Payments will be made in two batches, from May 21 to 22 and again from May 27 to 28. Beneficiaries are advised to check their payment status and ensure their banking details are up to date to avoid delays.
Alongside the payment announcement, SASSA has introduced a WhatsApp self-service channel for Covid-19 SRD beneficiaries.
The automated service allows grant recipients to access key information without visiting SASSA offices or calling the call centre.
The WhatsApp service is available on 082 601 0111.
SASSA said the move is aimed at making it easier for beneficiaries to get updates quickly and conveniently.
