Elderly residents treated to a day of care and comfort
Pick ‘n Pay Southdale, FNB, Southdale Shopping Centre, Booysens SAPS and others join forces to uplift elderly residents with hampers, meals and smiles.
Residents of Reuven Retirement Village were recently treated to a heart-warming day as Pick n Pay Southdale partnered with several organisations to bring comfort and kindness to the elderly community during the cold weather.
The initiative was organised to remind the elderly residents that they are still valued. As days grew colder, the partners focused on providing both physical warmth and emotional comfort.

The elderly residents received hampers filled with essential items and enjoyed a shared breakfast and lunch. To keep everyone active and energised, gentle exercise sessions were also held.
Residents participated happily, showing that age is no barrier to movement and physical participation.
Organisers said: “The goal was to bring warmth during a cold season and to remind the elderly that they remain an important part of the community.”

The collaboration showed how businesses, community organisations, and law enforcement can work together to make a positive difference.
The event was made possible through a partnership between Pick n Pay Southdale, FNB, Southdale Shopping Centre, Booysens SAPS, and Move with Mike.
Residents of Reuven Retirement Village expressed gratitude for the visit, saying the day brought them joy.
