Community rallies behind charity car show at Mall of the South

Despite cold weather, crowds turned out at Mall of the South to enjoy an impressive display of cars and motorbikes while helping raise funds for charities.

A Father’s Day charity car show at Mall of the South brought together car enthusiasts, families and the community for a day of motoring displays, while raising funds for several deserving charities.

The event was organised by the Bosch Car Service Group AutoExpedi8 and Expo Guys, with support from Mall of the South and several motoring organisations and exhibitors.

This included the South African Endurance Series, Super V South Africa, Luso Classics, XS Promotions, and the many collectors and enthusiasts who showcased their vehicles.

“Car clubs, collectors, exhibitors, sponsors and motoring enthusiasts came together to make it a special and successful event.

“Despite the cold weather, there was a great turnout with visitors seeing a spectacular display of prestige vehicles, drifting cars and Super V racing machines, alongside exhibitors and strong community support,” explained managing director of AutoExpedi8 Bosch Service centres, Jenene Cronning.

The basement parking area near the AutoExpedi8 Bosch Service centre was transformed into a showcase of classic, performance and racing vehicles, attracting visitors of all ages.

Funds raised from the event will support several charitable organisations. Beneficiaries include South of Jo’burg Business & Tourism (SOJO), whose initiatives focus on food security through its community farm, skills training through its charity shop, youth development programmes, SMME support and the Mandela Day #HelpThyNeighbour blanket drive, which aims to collect 6 700 blankets for local NGOs.

Other beneficiaries include organisations supported by Rotary International, including the United Cerebral Palsy Association of South Africa, Christways, Resthaven and San Michele Home.

Cronning said the event reflected AutoExpedi8’s commitment to making a positive difference in the communities it serves.

“As a proudly female-led Bosch Car Service group operating successfully at Mall of the South and across the South of Johannesburg, Springs Mall and Meyerton, we’re passionate about using our platform to drive real change,” she said.

She added that the company continues to promote opportunities for women in the automotive industry while maintaining high service standards.

With 19 years of experience and a growing footprint that includes the Mall of the South branch, Gateway in Alberton, Springs Mall, The Reef Shopping Centre, Rifle Range in Joburg South, Alberton Mall branch and most recently, the Bosch car service centre in Meyerton.

“As a group, we continue our drive to train and employ women as automotive technicians in a traditionally male-dominated industry. All technicians participate in the internationally recognised Bosch Master Technician programme, ensuring world-class service standards,” Cronning shared.
