Embrace Village Charity Shop opens at Midway Shopping Centre
The new charity shop is calling on the community to donate, shop and support a project that creates opportunities for families while transforming lives, one purchase at a time.
Bargain hunters can now shop with purpose following the opening of Embrace Village’s new charity shop at Midway Shopping Centre in Walkerville.
The new shop offers much more than affordable second-hand goods. Every purchase and donation helps Embrace Village continue its work of supporting vulnerable children, young people and families through care, practical assistance and opportunities that help build stronger futures.
The charity shop also creates valuable workplace experience for the organisation’s Village Mamas. By working in the shop, they are able to develop new skills, gain confidence and improve their chances of finding future employment or creating new opportunities for their families.
Managing director Pippa Jarvis said the shop represents more than a place to find great bargains. “Every item bought and every donation received helps us make a real difference in the lives of the families we serve. This shop allows people to support our work practically while giving good-quality items a second life,” she said.
The shelves are regularly restocked with a wide range of quality pre-loved clothing, books, toys, homeware, décor and other hidden treasures. With new items arriving all the time, shoppers can expect something different on every visit.
The organisation is also encouraging residents to donate unwanted items to help keep the shelves full. Clean, good-quality clothing, shoes, books, toys, household goods, furniture and other usable items are all welcome.
Jarvis said community support is at the heart of the project. “Shopping second-hand is good for your budget, good for the environment and good for the community. Every donation and every purchase helps us provide opportunities for families while creating hope for those who need it most,” she said.
