Madrasah learners spread smiles with Women’s Day roses

The annual initiative seeks to nurture a culture of mutual respect, appreciation and service within the community.

Learners of Madrasah Nahrul Hayah in Bassonia brought smiles to shoppers ahead of Women’s Day when they embarked on their annual initiative to honour and appreciate the women of their community.

On August 7, learners from the Islamic afternoon school visited the new Omni Square shopping complex, where they handed out roses accompanied by a short Women’s Day message to female shoppers.

The simple gesture was warmly received, with many shoppers pleasantly surprised to receive a rose from the young learners.

Madrasah Nahrul Hayah arranges the initiative annually as part of its efforts to nurture a culture of mutual respect, appreciation and service within the community. Beyond honouring women, the activity is intended to teach learners that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact on others.

The school hopes to instil in its learners a mindset of benefiting those around them and helping them appreciate the power of a simple gesture to bring a smile to someone’s face.

“We thank the management of Omni Square for allowing us the opportunity to benefit others and spread love in our community,” said Ml Ahmed Bhyat, a teacher at Madrasah Nahrul Hayah.

Each rose was accompanied by a message highlighting the importance Islam places on treating women with kindness and respect. It included the saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “The best of you are those who are best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.”

Through initiatives such as these, the madrasah hopes its learners will understand that education extends beyond the classroom and includes becoming caring, respectful and contributing members of the wider community.
