Stand tall

Be yourself.

“When I was a child my mother said to me, “If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general. If you become a monk you’ll end up as the pope.” Instead I became a painter and end up as Picasso.” – Pablo Picasso.

This quote really brought so much meaning into my life; I love it so much. It seems like we always want to become someone else. We’re always looking up to someone or putting someone on that proverbial pedestal. It’s great to look up to someone for guidance but don’t be their follower, instead be their student and learn the principles.

It’s a fact that we don’t have a thousand years to live; we have limited time to unleash our greatness. This means we have to optimise the time we have by learning things from others who have done and mastered them before us; this is how we can leverage from their experiences and insights.

Sir Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen further than others, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” So, it doesn’t matter how short you are but by standing on the shoulders of giants you will surely be elevated to become the best that you can ever be. Surrounding yourself with giants in whatever sphere of life, will help you rise higher and see things that most people are blinded to.

Be yourself. Like Picasso, who became one of the greatest painters of his time, not by competing with anyone else but himself. So, do you want to see far? Just look around you; the height of those people you spend most of your time with will give you an indication as to how clear and far away you can see. The world has long been waiting for your light to shine, shine it brighter!
