Are you willing to sacrifice?

I used to pay with the last money I had and at times committed myself without having money to pay, which challenged me to come up with ideas to raise the money.

“If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice.” – Veli Ndaba – ‘The Engineered Mind to WIN’

The words above clearly indicate that one half of knowing what you want is knowing what you are willing to give up in order to get it. To me, this simply means that success of any scale is directly proportional to what one is willing to give up. This is about the law of sowing and reaping, or cause and effect – what you put in is what you will get out.

Success consists of two halves. The first half is knowing exactly what you want and the willingness to pay the price for it, no matter what. The second half is the real sacrifice in the form of physical action that comes with pain, ridicule, hardships, rejection, mocking and being called names. This is called going against the norm or culture.

I have put a lot of financial investment into my personal development – attending seminars, workshops, conferences, buying books and paying for coaching sessions. I used to pay with the last money I had and at times committed myself without having money to pay, which challenged me to come up with ideas to raise the money.

Today, people think I am lucky and that things are just happening for me; but, no, I was willing to sacrifice the short-term comfort for the long-term one. Most people prefer to buy material things that do not increase their market value. They complain about a shortage of opportunities, when it’s not the shortage of opportunities that is a problem, but rather the shortage of skills. This is like blaming the bank for the small amount of interest on your investment when the problem is the small amount you have invested, which has resulted in the small amount of interest. I am sure you get the picture.
