Daughter of murdered mom thanks police for good work

The daughter of the elderly woman who was murdered in her Rose Acres home on Friday, June 10, 2016, praises the Moffat View SAPS.

I am writing to thank Moffat View SAPS for their wonderful investigative work which led to the incarceration of the Zimbabwean national who murdered my elderly mother when she was living in Rose Acres, on June 10, last year.

I am happy to announce that the man was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment for murder and robbery and I am very grateful to everyone who was involved from the beginning, and all the community members and witnesses who helped strengthen the case.

I do not have the detective’s full names but I know he is known as Hlatshwayo. Initially, the first detective did not give me the correct details and I was even angry at the COURIER, thinking that the information that she was strangled was not true as that officer had told me there was no such thing. But eventually detective Hlatshwayo took over and revealed everything.

I want to also thank officer Shabalala and his other colleagues, even though I cannot remember their names, as they were also of assistance in the case.

I often read mostly bad things about Moffat View SAPS officers and I feel they also deserve the praise when they do good work.

Thank you all.

Francis Kühn, daughter of the deceased
