Partnering with the community

I approached Johan Pretorius, the general manager of Queenshaven Retirement Village, to sponsor a grass cutter.

The long grass in our area has become really problematic to residents and businesses. I had to come up with a plan to assist our community to keep the grass short.

I approached Johan Pretorius, the general manager of Queenshaven Retirement Village, to sponsor a Weed Eater. This donation was done after we assessed the living conditions of communities within the South. Queenshaven was found to be a good example of how properties and sidewalks should look like. I am a regular visitor at Queenshaven, this is one of the villages that know the importance of keeping the gardens and sidewalks clean.

As part of an ongoing partnership between local government decision-makers and private initiative as the ward councillor during one of my visits to Queenshaven, I convinced management to invest in the community upliftment project A re Sebetseng by donating such an item that would enable communities to step up general maintenance, specifically for metro owned facilities. As Queenshaven is currently already involved in a home-based community project, they assist all the other government retirement villages in South Hills with various feeding schemes and home visits by their social workers.

PARTNERS: Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame with Johan Pretorius, the general manager of Queenshaven Retirement Village, after the donation of a Weed Eater.

I would like to encourage all homeowners and businesses to join the quest to upgrade the general environment of Ward 57. It is anticipated that this will have an ongoing ripple effect that will make living in the South pleasant. We recognised the socio-economic upliftment it could have, also impacting on the value of property in the not so distant future.
