Your article, published on February 11 regarding the maintenance of the old age homes, brought joy and renewed hope for many residents in Reuven.
Many of the flats are in an appalling condition, making it uncomfortable and difficult for the elderly to live in.
All their complaints to the office falls on deaf ears, some have been complaining for a number of years and all they get are promises.
It was good to read that the newly elected MMC for Housing, Mlungisi Mabaso, is concerned about the poor maintenance of these flats that are in urgent need of repair.
We wish Mabaso success in all his undertakings to make living conditions bearable for the elderly.
Some of our residents are unconvinced; saying it is just a lot of promises and nothing will come of it since it’s been years that such promises are made and we are still waiting.
Many of us are looking at the positive side of things and trust that Mabaso and his committee are serious and earnest about bringing changes that will make life for the elderly pleasant.
