ORLANDO WEST – Kaizer Chiefs players paid a visit to the Phefeni Secondary School on Orlando West, Soweto, on Wednesday November 20, delighting learners and staff at their chosen ‘Connected School’ for the 2013 Telkom Knockout tournament.

Simphiwe Mtsweni and Lorenzo Gordinho met the young learners, who were delighted to show off their school to their football heroes.
Kaizer Chiefs will play Platinum Stars in this year’s Telkom Knockout semifinals on Saturday November 23, a game that will have extra significance for Phefeni Secondary School that is eager to offer its learners greater access to computers and connectivity to the world.

The nominated schools from the two Telkom Knockout finalists this season, as well as a third to be drawn randomly from the other 14 participating PSL clubs, will each receive R200 000 worth of computer equipment and training, connecting these schools to the world through ICT.
The initiative is being run through the Telkom Foundation, who will make the donation of the equipment at the final.

Kaizer Chiefs player Lorenzo Gordinho says the team is eager to help these learners achieve their dream of being ‘connected’ to the outside world.
“This is a great initiative from the Telkom Knockout tournament and it is an extra motivation for us to win on Saturday. These learners deserve the same opportunities as those in schools with greater technology and hopefully we can help them take a step towards that,” Gordinho said.
