Dress to impress for PinkDay

David Tlale will be the fashion ambassador for the 2018 PinkDay campaign.

CRICKET South Africa, the Gauteng Cricket Board and Momentum are proud to announce that award-winning fashion designer and style influencer, David Tlale, will be the fashion ambassador for the 2018 PinkDay campaign.

The Momentum PinkDay ODI takes place at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on February 10.

The Standard Bank Proteas will once again be playing in pink as they take on India in this widely anticipated clash.

“I have enjoyed hearing about the way South Africans unite for an incredible cause at an event that has an electric atmosphere and dress up to show their support,” Tlale said. “This year I want to call on everyone to #PitchUpInPink for Pink Friday on February 9 and the PinkDay on Saturday and take their self-expression to a whole new dimension and style.”

The 2018 PinkDay also has a new beneficiary, with all the funds raised going to the breast cancer unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.

Spot prizes for the best outfits and the ultimate accolade of being the best dressed at the PinkDay are up for grabs. Sharing your planned outfit on social media with the #PitchUpInPink hashtag could earn you a seat in the PinkCarpet Celebrity VIP suite.

Tlale has also influenced the design of the official PinkDay Relate bracelet, which will be available for sale to the public as well as any corporate entities wanting to support the cause with bulk orders.

Standard Bank Proteas captain Faf du Plessis is excited to have Tlale on board.

“The team has always enjoyed playing in the PinkDay and also seeing our fans really get behind the cause and campaign. We look forward to seeing them step it up and take on David Tlale’s challenge,” he said.

Chief executive of the Gauteng Cricket Board, Greg Fredericks, said: “We pride ourselves on giving people an increasingly terrific experience at the Bullring during each edition of the PinkDay. In that sense our collaboration with David Tlale, which aims to inspire our fans to dress up, is a great addition to the day, and we strongly believe that this will increase our ability to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for our chosen beneficiary. David Tlale’s influence on style and trends is renowned worldwide and we are honoured to welcome him on board.”

Tickets are still available for the Momentum PinkDay ODI but selling quickly with more than half already gone. Fans can purchase these online through Ticketpro at www.ticketpro.co.za
