A battle for number one at Ormonde Primary

The young athletes from Grade One to Seven gave their best in trying to secure a win on the track.

THE challenge was on to become number one as Ormonde Primary schools inter-house athletics took place at the school’s grounds on January 26.

An exhilarating exhibition of sportsmanship was at play as four school houses, the Eagles in Yellow, the Falcons in Blue, the Hawks in Red and the Kestrels in Green battled for first place.

FINISH: Great smiles as the learners challenge each other.

Athletes from each of the houses challenged each other on the race track to see which house would reign supreme.

With the red team taking an early lead it was a close race to the finish when it came to points as all houses brought their A-game.

The different teams were judged on a number of things such as team spirit, coordination, sportsmanship and overall performance on the track.

The scores were in and it was time to announce the scores and who would be granted bragging rights of this year’s Ormonde Primary School’s inter-house athletics championship.

Coming in at fourth place was the Blue Falcons with 26 points.

VICTORY LAP: The Red team went around the field in celebration.

Third was the Green team, the Kestrels with 29 points.

Second was the Yellow team, the Eagles with 30 points and the winner with a whopping 55 points were the Red team, the Hawks.

Jubilation as the read team celebrated in unison all in the name of healthy competition.

GET SET: The u-12 boys start off to a lightning start.
DASH: The u-12 Ormonde Primary girls battle it out in the 60m race.
FUN TIMES: ‘Waddle-waddle’ as some of the children’s feet were joint all in the name of fun racing.
TEACHERS VS PARENTS: The teachers and parents also to the track to race.
EGGSHELLS: An egg speeding competition was one of the challenges the different athletes had to challenge each other in.
VICTORY: The Hawks emerged as the overall winner for this year’s inter-house athletics.
