Playing soccer and keeping out of trouble

WANDILE Ntsele (13), Lerato Motaung (14), and Sinethemba Mbele (14) from Turffontein are keeping themselves out of trouble by playing soccer at Lerato’s residence.

Every day after school, the three musketeers, the name they’ve given themselves, come together and do their homework, assessments and tasks. After, finishing their school work, instead of roaming the street they opt to play soccer to keep themselves busy. They play dribbling-may-square and one-touch, the traditional street soccer style. Nothing keeps them away from each other and the level of respect they have for each other is amazing.

“Every street in Turffontein is always busy. If we play outside the yard anything can happen to us. We could be bumped by a car. We always motivate each other in a good way. Most of the kids in our age group are up to no good so we try our utmost best to remain friends and I wish our relationship remains solid,” Lerato told Courier.

Jeremiah Motaung, Lerato’s father, said: “These boys love soccer. Every time they are together all they talk about is soccer. As a parent, this makes me happy because they try by all means to keep themselves out of trouble. I want them to join any local team so that they can learn more about soccer.”

The boys wish to play for a local team called Celtic because the team’s style of play will suit them and the team has many divisions for the boys to play in.
