WHEN the property in Forest Street, Turffontein was burned last year by angered residents because of alleged illegal drug dealings, Mohapi Mofokeng and Florence Mosiya were left stranded.
The couple, who were renting the house at that stage, is now facing another problem. They are sharing the property with nyaope boys.
The property is full of dirt and stolen goods. Since the local residents burned the place down it has not yet being revamped, but the couple continues to live there. The couple can’t move because they don’t have any place to go to and no money to rent a flat. Their son, Dumisani Mosiya (35), is also staying with them and they all sleep in one bed.
“These nyaope boys smoke their drugs in front us and when we confront them to stop smoking in front of us they end up threatening us,” they said.

The couple believes that these boys do not only smoke nyaope but other drugs as well.
“Every time after smoking they do all kinds of crazy things like just sitting there staring at us,” they explained.
Mohapi said: “I appeal to someone who can help us get a house or flat so that we can be safe because our lives are at stake here. No one has bothered to help us. Every time before I go to sleep I ask myself will I see dawn. Please if anyone can help we would really appreciate their help.”
