Young boxer sets his sights on becoming a champion
Laerskool Randhart’s Sheldon Stols, known as ‘The IG Brawler’, says he is here to stay and has set his sights on becoming a world boxing champion.
Sheldon Stols is a step closer to reaching his dream. He was recently graded on August 12 as an amateur boxer and he is looking forward to making great strides in the amateur ranks.
His message to his peers is, “Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do it.” He said if one can put their mind to it and put in the work, everything will be possible.
The young boxer was also chosen from the Super 12 and Alberton district team for cross-country.
“I would like to give a big shout out to my sponsors – JGJ Electrical, SBF, Infinity Solutions, La Vonte Hair Studio, Immortal Guardians Motorcycle Club, CPS Security, Punisher SF Promotions and Nyito Sportswear. Sport is nothing without sponsors,” he said.
Sheldon said it was now time to make some sacrifices, and that he was willing to do anything and everything possible to reach his dream of becoming a world champ and represent his country.
“Boxing is not just a sport but it also teaches you discipline. I have a couple of boxers I follow and look up to such as Kevin Lerena, Roarke Knapp, Layton Gloss and Hekkie Budler. I have a strong bond with Johnny Koen, the SA master box champ, he is my hero. The best coach in amateur boxing, uncle Nicky Ness and his wife aunty Micky Ness, go out of their way for us boxers,” he explained.
To be an exceptional boxer he said one needed discipline and dedication, consistency, faith and heart.
Sheldon has also started his own IG Brawler clothing brand. To get in touch and support his merchandise, contact his father, Jacques Harmse, via email on jacques.harmse@hotmail.com
