Alberton Rugby Club wants to grow women’s rugby in Alberton, Joburg south areas

The Alberton Rugby Club introduced women’s rugby last year, with the senior women’s rugby team set to compete in the Golden Lions Grand Challenge League.

The Alberton Rugby Club spearheads efforts to develop and grow women’s rugby in Alberton and Johannesburg south areas.

The club, founded in 1912, is one of the oldest clubs in Gauteng and is known as the home of the Elande.

The home of Elande is signing up rugby players, especially women and girls interested in the sport.

The women‘s teams were introduced last year, and for the first time, the club’s senior women’s rugby team will compete in the Golden Lions Grand Challenge League. They encouraged women of all ages to join the club.

Interested women and girls can visit the Alberton Rugby Club at their home stadium on the Corner of Second Avenue and Braun Street, Verwoerdpark, Alberton.

Practice takes place on Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00.
