Sexpo and the Salvation Army join forces for sexual freedom

Sex is about having fun and expressing yourself in a healthy, safe and consensual way. A commitment to spreading this message has resulted in Sexpo, the world's largest health, sexuality and lifestyle exhibition with The Salvation Army pairing up to fight the scourge of human sex trafficking.

SEXPO will be opening its doors to Joburg and Pretoria audiences at the Expo Centre Nasrec from September 26 to 29 and is proud to be hosting The Salvation Army as one of its exhibitors.

The Salvation Army will be using the opportunity to reach out to the considerable number of people attending the much anticipated annual event, raising awareness about the horrific, criminal industry which forces its victims into sexual slavery. Apart from handing out promotional material on the Salvation Army, officers and volunteers will be providing information on sex trafficking throughout the world, including South Africa. Visitors will also be invited to sign a petition against sex trafficking. According to Salvation Army public relations secretary, Major Carin Holmes, “It’s not good enough for the church to sit inside its four walls and expect people to come to us. We have to get out and be the church in the community.”

Sean Newman, Marketing Manager of Sexpo, agrees, “We strive to make Sexpo an event that celebrates sexuality as an aspect of healthy human nature. Sex trafficking is degrading and strips its victims of any type of freedom – which is exactly the opposite of the Sexpo ethos.” This is why the expo welcomed The Salvation Army’s participation and supports and endorses their message. He adds, “I hope that everyone who attends Sexpo will visit the Salvation Army stand, and have their eyes opened to the reality of sexual slavery and how we can fight it. Sexpo only works with credible and legitimate performers and exhibitors, and is strictly opposed to sexual exploitation.

Sexpo is pulling out all the stops for their next event, featuring an international performer whose gorgeous looks are matched only by her extraordinary talent. Kaya Jones, one of the founding members of smash pop-sensation The Pussycat Dolls will be treating Sexpo audiences to some of her solo hits, such as the knockout single “Release the Energy”, which is currently taking MTV by storm throughout Europe and the US.

Kaya has a solid background in the music industry. Mentored by R Kelly and named by The Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones, Kaya was instrumental in developing the sound and style of the Pussycat Dolls, which went on to become one of the most popular girl groups in history. Since leaving the group Kaya has brought her own brand of energetic pop, sassy charisma and smoldering sex appeal to her fans, with solo hit singles including “Hollywood Doll” and “Take It Off”. She has put out two solo albums, “Confessions of a Hollywood Doll” and “Kaya”.

See her strut her stuff on the main stage on all three days at 22:00. Sexpo is at the Expo Centre Nasrec and tickets are on sale at Computicket. For more information, go to https://www.sexpo.co.za
