Over R1-million raised for Reach For A Dream
Four hundred and eighty eight cyclists rode in a 40km cycle race and this year they are hoping for even more riders to raise funds for Reach For A Dream.
Dream Riders is a team of passionate and dedicated cyclists who cycle the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge to raise funds for the Reach For A Dream Foundation.
November 2012 was the sixth year of the Dream Riders and proved to be a landmark year for this fundraiser. The team of 488 cyclists, from all over the country, rode in the 40km, Mountain Bike and Road races during the hot month of November.
Their efforts were not in vain as, collectively, they have raised over R1 million for children fighting life threatening illnesses.
Bronwyn Feldwick–Davis, Reach For A Dream’s Projects and Marketing Manager said, “2012 was a landmark year for us as we doubled our number of riders and have raised R1 million. This makes the Dream Riders one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and enables us to distribute the funds to all of our seven branches.
“Nedbank once again sponsored all the hospitality and rider kits, for which we are so grateful. This allows all the money raised by the cyclists to go directly to dreams and projects and not expenses.”
This year Reach For A Dream is celebrating 25 years of fulfilling dreams and special projects for children in hospitals and homes across South Africa. The Foundation will be marking the occasion with lots of special events for the children and their families.
Riders are encouraged to register on www.dreamriders.co.za to join the team before September 25. To find out more about this event and the other projects and inspiring work of Reach For Dream, please visit www.reachforadream.org.za and www.dreamriders.co.za
