Casper de Vries Art Exhibition at Emperors Palace

Solo exhibition of Casper de Vries at Emperors Palace.

Well known comedian and one-man performer Casper de Vries has surprised friend and foe alike when he opened his Art Show at Emperors Palace on Thursday February 20.

The exhibition is a first for De Vries, who said that he had always wanted to put something valuable on canvas, and a few years ago he commenced with his paintings. The main paintings are about his two beloved dogs, often found where he was busy performing his shows.

“My dogs are my inspiration among other things in life, and they are my compatriots in life, so that is why there are a lot of my paintings of them at the exhibition,” said the seasoned entertainer.

Having made a career out of making people laugh, comedy legend Casper de Vries has decided to retire from performing one-man shows to concentrate on his new passion, art, and has opened his first solo art exhibition, Art @ the Palace, at Emperors Palace Theatre of Marcellus. The Roodepoort artist attended the opening with his two dogs, Halfrida and Kent, who are among the subjects of his 46 works on display at the Palace of Dreams until February 26. De Vries has been putting colour to canvas for the past two years and is also planning exhibitions in Cape Town and Bloemfontein later in the year.
