JOHANNESBURG – In celebration of the warmer weather, CAN DO! Summer’s free concerts are back to soak up the sun with South Africa’s hottest music talent.
Following last year’s resounding success, the CAN DO! Summer Tour launched on October 25 at Tsalanang Pub in Soweto with a summer-ready concert took place the very next day, October 26 at Dorothy Nyembe Park, Soweto.
CAN DO! Summer partygoers can expect a varied line-up and an explosion of talent with performances by the likes of Dr Malinga, Chomee, Arthur, AKA, Kelly Khumalo, Ifani, Cassper Nyovest, DJ Shimza, Lulo Cafe, DJ Shimza and DJ AJ at the five concerts taking place from now until New Year’s Day, 2015.
The other four concerts will take place in the East Rand on November 30; in Tembisa on December 25; in Newtown on December 31 and in Pretoria on January 1 next year.
Guests are encouraged to fill their picnic baskets, bring their own beverages in cans and enjoy a day outdoors with family and friends. No bottles will be allowed.
CAN DO! Attitude
“These concerts embody the vibrant life of South Africa’s next generation. We aim to motivate the youth to adopt a CAN DO! attitude, while creating a safe environment to have a good time,” said Arthur Mafokate, South Africa’s Kwaito King.
The concerts are created to develop the fast growing youth culture that says ‘anything is possible if you have a CAN DO! attitude to life’. CAN DO! Summer will encourage young, dynamic South Africans to choose their beverages in cans, because they are safer and more environmentally friendly than other types of beverage packaging.
“Cans are safe and easy to manage at big events. Cans are also the most environmentally friendly form of beverage packaging with over 72% of cans being recycled, which heightens its appeal and popularity,” said Alexandra Bouwer, marketing manager for Nampak Bevcan’s CAN DO! brand.
