Successful mondeor conviction

The suspect would follow the victims to their place of residence, point a firearm at them, assault them and put them in the back seat of the hijacked vehicle.

ON August 23, 2016 a suspect was convicted of three counts of hijacking and kidnapping by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court. The incident occurred in Malta, Daphney in Naturena, and Swallow Avenue in Meredale between February and April 2009.

Through the hard work of the investigating officer, the suspect was traced, arrested and sentenced.

According to Mondeor SAPS communication officer Captain Nokulunga Dube, the suspect would follow the victims to their place of residence, point a firearm at them, assault them and put them in the back seat of the hijacked vehicle. The driver would then drop them in the veld and take their belongings and vehicle/s.

The case was assigned to Detective Constable Maluleke of Mondeor Detectives. The suspect pleaded guilty on all three counts and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. Station Commander Colonel JJ Bezuiedenhoudt would like to commend the detective for the hard work and dedication throughout the investigation.
